Saltine Fire Crackers
Ingredients
• 1 stick of salted butter (or unsalted butter if preferred)
• 1/2 CUP oil (we recommend avocado oil)
• 1/2 TSP sea salt (or salt to taste)
• 2 TBS TDon’s All Purpose Cajun Seasonings
• 3 Sleeves of Premium Original Saltine crackers
Instructions
Preheat oven to 225°
Cover a baking sheet in aluminum foil and place the saltine crackers out evenly on the sheet (about 1 sleeve per sheet)
In an iron skillet on medium to medium low heat, sauté the butter, oil, seasonings, and salt together until thoroughly mixed and butter is completely melted
Using a pastry brush, carefully and evenly apply the melted mixture to the top of the crackers
Place the baking sheet on the middle rack and bake at 225° for 25 minutes
Noteworthy
The more you apply, the more densely saturated and more seasoned the spicy saltine crackers will become. We used the ingredients listed above on 3 sleeves (36 crackers/sleeve). You could probably stretch the mixture to cover 4 sleeves, or a full box. But we liked the amount of coverage on 3.
You can place about 1 sleeve of saltine crackers on a baking sheet depending on how large it is. Make sure to thoroughly coat the crackers and apply seasonings evenly, as the spices and seasonings tend to drop to the bottom of the butter and oil mixture.
For those of us who are gluten sensitive, or gluten intolerant, we have found a few recipes out there for a gluten-free variety of cracker. There are also off-the-shelf varieties you can purchase in lieu of the name brand saltine cracker we mention and used in our recipe. Check out this recipe for a gluten-free saltine cracker.
Enjoy firecrackers as a stand alone snack, with an ice cold beer or your favorite beverage, or with your favorite bowl of soup, red beans and rice, or chicken and dumplings! Also works great for game day snacking with friends and family!

• This is better than the packaged store-bought spicy saltine crackers (or firecrackers) they sell at the Bucee’s franchises in Texas.
• Amazing with chicken and dumplings or red beans and rice (or other traditional cajun recipes).
• Wonderful as a bar snack and goes well with most beer.
